Me with my Fuji X100T
Shijing Li
I majored in Communication Design at Syracuse University. After interning for Flow Architecture in London, I came back to Syracuse and continued enriching my design gallery.
I balanced my school design work with personal creative entertainment, like photography and painting, which provided me with inspiration occasionally. Eventually, I finalized my portfolio with multiple projects including branding, publication, packaging, and advertising.
My creative approach—no matter the medium—is to utilized a mind map of key words to generate different concepts. I did several iterations on each concept and eventually ended up refining the one I find most controversial.
For me, controversy isn’t about instigation, but rather, a way to arrest your audience. It’s a way to plant a little bit of desire in their hearts; a yearning to turn the page and learn more about your idea. Ultimately, it’s about creating memorable images.
